Raised free-range on small farms, where they are allowed to grow slowly and develop more flavor than the average bird, on a diet of non-GMO corn and soy. No antibiotics or hormones are ever used, and each bird is processed by hand to ensure quality. This third-generation family farm has been raising turkeys since 1939. Ferndale turkeys grow naturally, without the use of antibiotics or artificial growth promotants. During the temperate months, the free-range birds get access to fresh pasture and clean air. The farm has developed a custom feed, primarily corn and soybean meal sourced from neighboring farms, and ground by a local mill. With careful husbandry working in tandem with nature, the family created an environment that maintains the flock's health without medications. The birds are humanely processed at nearby independent facilities in Minnesota.
