The city is dancing with lights aglow as trees dress windows everywhere you go. Anxiety and worry are packed away, in hopes that peace and love will come to stay. There’s lots to do, but keep your cheer, it’s the holidays, the best time of the year!
Things can get mighty hectic these last few weeks of the year, especially in the reality of pandemics, shortages, and sprawling demand. That’s why it’s as important as ever to utilize your Fortune Fish & Gourmet team to help get you through these uncertain weeks ahead. We’ll put the coffee on, because we know, it’s time to go to work!
Rough winds and high seas are aggravating the East Coast. This could disrupt the Lobster, Scallop, Oyster, and Clam supplies for the holidays. It is very important to get your wish lists in sooner rather than later if you want your menus to be merry. We are working with suppliers closely to get as much product as possible, but, most likely, there won’t be enough to satisfy the increased demand.
Wild Striped Bass is the fish dujour this week. Virginia and Maryland are producing high quality fish and the haul will continue through the holiday season. Price points are terrific on 8-pound-and-up sized fish and supply is a safe bet.
The West Coast crab season and horrible weather are contributing to a scarcity of groundfish. Petrale, Dover, and Rockfish have been missing for weeks and it seems like there is no Christmas miracle in sight. Try out East Coast species such as Fluke, Dab, Hake, and Pollack as accessible substitutions for these MIA species.
Fresh Nantucket Bay Scallop season is rounding into form, and we are bringing in some deliciously sweet morsels. The Bays are tasting like candy and are so fresh you can pop ‘em right into your mouth straight out of the tub. These will go quick; pre-orders are recommended.
