Fortune Fish & Gourmet

The Seafood & Gourmet Specialists

Heatwaves, hamburgers, and hotdogs are forecasted for the weekend, but Memorial Day fare doesn’t have to be the usual suspects this year.  You can eat beyond the bun and try some healthy alternatives, starting with fresh seafood.  We have some selections that are perfect for the patio, pool, or wherever you find yourself this weekend, you just simply have to dive in!

Copper River Wild Salmon opened with a boom last week.  Fish caught during the first opener fetched high prices - as usual you’ve gotta pay to be the first ones with fish – but we saw some relief after the second opener was announced.  With no additional openers in sight, we do have Copper River fish for this week.  We could see supply wane, especially if demand increases, so take advantage early in the week if you want your share of this highly-sought-after Wild Salmon.

Red Snapper is red hot, and it’s been a long time since we could say that.  There were great landings over the weekend so we will have a good supply of American Red Snapper, just in time for the holiday.  We have all sizes available, and, while the bounty is beautiful, we don’t expect this kind of supply to be a weekly occurrence.  With the nice weather looming, it is the perfect time to offer these stunning fish.

Looking for grilling favorites to offer customers?  We will have fresh domestic Albacore, Swordfish, Ono, Opah, Wild Striped Bass, Amberjack and Mahi Mahi, just to name a few choice species.  We are gearing up for a busy weekend and will be able to meet all your needs, whether you’re thinking with the bun or without.  Let us be your guide to kick off summer deliciously.

Gourmet Gab

The National Restaurant Association Show (NRA) just wrapped up, and it was one for the ages. After a 3-year gap, the NRA show brought back that energy we have been missing from vendors and customers from all over the world.

At the Fortune Fish & Gourmet booth there was an array of product displays, highlighting some of our great brands. Our own Chef Martin was there sampling customers his Old World Butcher Shop sausages, grilling sliders with prime beef from Neesvig and serving skirt steak with Quince & Apple Shallot Confit. The highlight of each day was the Venison saddle and Whole Duck with Foie Gras break down, presented by the team at D’Artagnan.
For the first time we had a magnificent pastry display case, showcasing how much we have grown in that category. The crowd favorites were Traiteur de Paris Mini Desserts and La Rose Noire, with their perfect collection of bite sized pastries. And we were excited to officially launch Weiss Chocolate and show our customers the uniqueness and versatility of their products. Fortune is importing this line directly from France, and samples are available! Contact your sales representative to learn more.

We want to thank our team, vendors and customers who make each NRA Show better than the last! We look forward to hosting everyone at our booth in 2023.
