This weekend, All Hallows Eve will mark the ending of the summer harvest and the opening of the gateway to the incoming winter. The unknown can be a spooky thing, but, like Virgil, we are here to help guide you. Whether it’s the River Styx or just some jack o’ lanterns, don’t be afraid to strike a path into the darkness ahead.
It’s the return of the Wild Striped Bass this week. The Chesapeake fishery is back from the dead and we are robbing the graves on some beautiful fish. The hook-and-line and pound-net fishermen know how to handle their goods, so the quality has been outstanding. New York is also in the mix, supplying some larger sized specimens, so we will have the gamut of options for you to choose from. Madame’s crystal ball is predicting a striped future.
What’s that lurking in the sand, hidden from sight, waiting to snatch its prey with a deathly bite? It’s Fluke! And lots of it. The Summer Flounder, aka Fluke, season is in full force, and we are seeing some terrifyingly great deals on scary good fish. Fluke will be a smart flatfish fillet option for the plate for the next few weeks. Don’t let the opportunity sneak past you.
It’s the invasion of the Wild Blue Catfish, and it’s up to you to stop them! Wild Blue Catfish are invading the pristine waterways of the Chesapeake Bay area, devouring everything in their wake. Luckily, these cats taste delicious, and we are bringing them in by the coffin load. You can help the cause by ordering up this affordable, sweet, white meat. Fillets are usually in the 7–12-ounce size and cook up with a firm flake. Dining on invasive species is the silver bullet when it comes to protecting natural habitats.
